I am a Japanese National.  I originally studied weaving in college under Kyoko Kumai, a textile artist in Japan who uses stainless steel fiber as a medium.  After relocating to San Diego in 2001, I graduated from UC San Diego with a bachelors in art and computing.  I then worked for various companies in graphic design before joining Palomar Handweavers' Guild in 2013 which is when I became focused on tapestry.
I feel fiber has an uncanny character which stimulates my imagination.  At the same time, it also has a stereotyped notion of flatness when we talk about a sheets of fabric.   I’m experimenting with how I can apply the uniqueness of dimension into my work by creating something fun and unexpected.
